An Ink Response to KEBURIA’s SS27 show

Have you ever gone straight from the countryside to the club? That's the journey KEBURIA's SS27 show took us on at London Fashion Week, and it's the feeling Emilie wanted to capture using their signature expressive ink style.
The show itself was a sensory collision: a stripped-back Truman Brewery warehouse, sunlight cutting through concrete, and Berlin-based artist SALOME's techno set shaking the walls as sharp tailoring and wild proportions hit the runway. Architectural shoulders, equestrian studs, cartoonishly oversized earrings, a golden pig insignia.
‘It was tough and theatrical in equal measure, and I knew almost immediately I wanted to respond to it artistically rather than just document it.’
‘When it came to creating the artwork, I decided that instead of working from photos alone, I put SALOME's set back on. I wanted the same bass that shook the warehouse to bounce into my eardrums, through my brain, and back onto the canvas as the vibrations energised my hand. I thought it important to work at the tempo the clothes were shown at, meaning that the artistic response would capture the energy of the room and atmosphere, not just the tempo of a still image. As I began to draw, it wasn’t only the energy I wanted to embody in my technique, but the attitude I experienced at the show, of KEBURIA and the models as they walked.’
‘You can see it most clearly trailing behind the striding leg in one piece: a flicked, dotted path that isn't fabric or shadow - it's motion. It's sound. It’s energy. I wasn't drawing what the leg looked like - I was drawing the bass hit that moved it. I was drawing the free spirit, an attitude that is unchained and unbothered.’
The result is less a record of what KEBURIA showed and more a record of how it felt to be in that room. Kind of like being at the club where you’re still dancing as the sun rises, understanding that reality of day-to-day life exists somewhere, but this second still feels like a dream.
