Thousands of black zip ties woven into architectural skin.

TERSA BRUTA is the sculptural practice of artist Nicole Elkins in New York. She has worked across ateliers and production environments for brands including Oscar de la Renta, Helmut Lang and Ralph Lauren. Elkins now centres her practice on industrial remnants and found materials.

Her work transforms commonplace objects through labour-intensive processes, resulting in forms that evoke armour and ritual garments. Elkins' work has been exhibited from The Front Gallery in New York to SKROV at HUD SPACE in Stockholm.

With her latest creation Untitled (Zip Tie Quilt), Elkins transforms industrial remnants into a wearable sculpture, handweaving thousands of connected black zip ties.
